Maitake for Integrative Cancer Care
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine is conducting a study of Maitake for integrative cancer care. Maitake is a type of mushroom which is thought to enhance the immune system. We are looking for volunteers who meet the following criteria:
- At least 18 years old,
- Diagnosed with any type of cancer,
- Currently receiving chemotherapy or CDK 4/6 inhibitors (e.g., Ibrance, Kisqali, Verzenio) as part of your cancer treatment,
- Available for in-person visits in Ottawa or Toronto.
Participant responsibilities
Your participation would involve 4 study visits over the course of 12 weeks. Your responsibilities would be:
Eligibility requirements
- Take the study product once a day for 12 weeks
- Attend one 1-hour visit every 4 weeks for 12 weeks
- Complete a 5 – 10-minute questionnaire at each visit
- Have your blood drawn at each visit
Participation in the study will not affect any treatments you are receiving at the hospital.
